What's Commercial Business Writing?
Anything that helps to tell your unique story. Web site texts, brochures, sales letters, e-letters, newsletters, press releases, advertising copy, articles, white papers - you get the idea. All these are tools to promote your message, your company. And good copy is needed for any successful marketing program.

Not sure what makes you unique?
We can help you identify your differentiation, or what makes you different from your competitors. From this point, we can hone your message to showcase your unique selling position and address the best ways to communicate it for your targeted audiences.

How can I help with developing a marketing strategy?
It depends on where you are in the process, but we generally offer a three-tiered process:

1. Communications Audit: We start with a detailed communications audit, to see what has worked with your existing communications pieces, and what you need for them to be doing. This goes far beyond your impression of their effectiveness. It can involve an analysis of each piece internally and an analysis by a potential audience.
2. Customer Research: We research your client base to find out their perception of your company. This will help us to understand if your message is getting through, and if your marketing money is well spent on your current marketing efforts.
3. Analysis into Action: Once we have an idea of what's worked and what doesn't work, we can set an actionable course for marketing efforts in the future. This might include new materials, or just using existing pieces in a different way - re-purposing them for better impact. Next, we figure out exactly who you should be targeting. Perhaps it's a narrower list than you thought - or broader. Armed with this information, we will create a strategic marketing plan based on your targets, your time and your sales force or budget. As a final step, we will look at your services and assign features and benefits to each one and develop quick pitches for those sometimes awkward 30-second commercials you offer at networking functions.

What are the benefits of hiring Wharton Communications to write for you?
Your communication pieces will be more effective in conveying your company message.

Why is this important?
Many companies fail to tell customers exactly WHY customers should buy from them. Sending poorly written messages is easy to do if there's little time for or interest in crafting a tightly pointed message.

Effective communications are essential to the overall marketing strategy. If you can't write it so that the customer is extremely interested in picking up the phone, the words aren't working. Unlike 85 percent of executives surveyed who claim writing as their least-favorite task, we love to write. That said, we can take an unwanted task and turn it into something that positively impacts your bottom line.

In the role as a commercial business writer and marketing consultant, we tweak and improve or create text that makes a difference for clients. We don't need an education in writing, sales or marketing. Let us put our experience to work for your benefit.
